Building With Shapes
After reading the book "Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot" we felt inspired to build robots using our knowledge of 2D shapes. We asked our reading buddies to help us build them and count how many of each shape we used.
Healthy Me
As we continue our discussions about healthy bodies, we have explored a variety of areas including healthy eating and the 4 food groups.
We have learned about the importance of keeping our teeth clean and visiting the dentist. We can identify foods that are good for our teeth and foods that are not. |
We have explored different health care professional roles including Dr. and Nurse. |

Our 5 Senses
After doing so much taste testing for our healthy foods unit, we realized we needed to help increase the students' vocabulary when describing the foods they were eating. This week we started to discuss our 5 senses and how we (little scientists) use them to explore the world around us.
We explored our sense of touch by feeling a variety of different textures such as smooth, bumpy, soft, rough and hard.

Yesterday we explored our sense of taste by learning about our different taste buds and tried a sweet, salty, sour and bitter food!

Reader Leader
We are absolutely delighted to share another reader leader with you. Hannah knows sign language and thanks to Ms. Leigh, Hannah not only reads her take home reader, but signs it as well.
2D shapes
We have been exploring 2d shapes in our room. Students have enjoyed using ego board and elasticity to make shapes, as well as playing shape hop with masking tape shapes on our carpet. We also enjoy sharing our " mystery shape" each day at the carpet and it creates rich dialogue with students as they discuss with their peers why they think it is a certain shape.

Here is a catchy little tune that we have been singing to help us remember our shapes.

Today we went on a shape scavenger hunt throughout our school with our reading buddies. We even sent home a copy of the hunt for families to try at home. Happy Hunting!

Reader Leader
Today our reader leader Noah came up and read our new poem to us today without never having heard it before. He even read that the tune was farmer in the dell and sang the song perfectly!
