Earth Day

After reading Todd Parr's Earth Book, our friends were motivated to do something to help the Earth like picking up litter. We braved the strong winds and frigid temps to do our part.

Here is a link to a you tube reading of this fabulous book.

Recycled Fun

a big thank you to all of our families for sending in their recyclables. not only did they help us review 3d shapes, but we re-used them to build 3d figures with our reading buddies. Some of their creative figures included robots, crocodiles, water pumps, people, puppets and televisions!

Not A Stick

In keeping with our discussions of helping our Earth, students re-used some sticks to create artwork after hearing the story Not A Stick.

Plant Parts

We have been exploring plants within our classroom and the different parts of the plant as well as what a plant needs to grow.

On Wednesday we planted beans and taped them to our windows. We even made predictions as to how many days it will take to see something happen.

We even made flowers for our KINDER_GARDEN with our reading buddies.

Today we labelled the parts of a plant and discussed what each part does.

Finally we learned that we eat different plant parts each day, including the seed (sunflower seeds), roots (carrots), stem( celery) and flower (broccoli). The best part was sampling all of the plant parts. Yum!
