Snowy, Blowy Day

ON this snowy, blowy day we stayed warm inside but kept moving with a variety of activities. First we had our teeth checked and received stickers from the dental hygienists. Next we travelled to Africa, found it on our globe, and learned that drums are used in a lot of African music. So off we went to the music room to bang on the drums! Finally we explored Insta- snow .......right away our little scientists figured out that it may feel like snow....it is just not as cold!

"Is it salt? Is it sugar? It smells like salt."

The water is gone.

Smells like play dough

It looks like snow but it is warm.

It is soft.

It looks like salt. It feels like snow but it feels squishy.

I made a snowball.

What was really amazing about the drums is that as soon as we began to explore, some students made immediate connections to stories and familiar shows. " That sounds like Twinkle, Twinkle" or " That sounds like " Fee Fi FO Fum", and that reminds me of the transformers song.

We even told a story about Mice in the attic using the drums....the students enjoyed using different parts of their hands to represent different animal sounds. They enjoyed the elephant most.
